I set my sights on the Voge 300R and as a first bike I've ever owned, I wanted to ask how beginner friendly it is? I'm not truing to show off, just want to cruise and have a good time

actually, 300cc is fantastic for a first bike.
it has enough power to be fun and keep up, but not so much that it's overwhelming for a beginner. just make sure to wear the appropriate helmet to be safe.

I agree with you @couchdigger40 and its pretty beginner friendly, manageable power, easy handling, and it's great for cruising and learning

Of course, with the bike I plan to get all the protective gear I'll need. Any specific recommendations? I know I should stay away from the cheap stuff, but is the expensive one that much better than the mid-range one?
